THE VILLAINS
A series of 22 portraits, some in gouache on paper and others in oil.
All villains seek something. They have that something firmly in mind. A villain is like a flower pushing through arid soil, exposed to being trampled or devoured, both fragile and daring. A villain invokes her inner warrior and climbs the immense tree where her ancestors rest, travels through their wombs, and heals their wounds. She reveals herself to break a cycle of repeated pain. She bears many scars, marks from this life and others, which teach her to become increasingly stronger.
